What does babes supporting babes mean to you?
Courtney: It means supporting, empowering and encouraging women to be their best self, and holding them accountable!
Kate: It means collaboration over competition, empowering the women in your life, and creating a support network.
Carly: Success, of any kind, is so much sweeter when it’s shared with a fellow babe. I love the quote ‘we rise by lifting others’, which means supporting one another through collaboration, generosity, kindness and celebration.
What’s your spirit animal?
Kate: At a Reiki session I was told my spirit animal is a wolf, which symbolizes freedom. That has always stuck with me.
What’s your proudest babe moment or achievement?
Kelly: Being able to create the first-ever influencer program at Saje. This is me living my dream of connecting people.
Carly: Honestly, it’s any time someone reaches out and wants to join our team! When others are inspired and feel so connected to what we’re up to that they want to join, I’m beyond proud.
What’s the most unexpected thing you have in your purse or wallet?
Kate: I’m a pretty practical person, and try to only carry the essentials. For me, that includes my custom vitamin packs.
Carly: I have a fortune from a cookie in my wallet that reads, “look with favour upon a bold beginning.” I also have doggie bags in my purse for my furbaby, Scout.
Tell us about a time where you were faced with a situation that you could have been unkind, but chose to be a babe instead?
Kate: I always try to lead with kindness with whoever I’m interacting with. Everyone has a story, and kindness doesn’t cost me anything. You never know when you may help turn someone’s day around just by being kind.
What product would you seriously stockpile if you found out they weren’t selling it anymore?
Kelly: Our Peppermint Halo. It has changed my life, because I haven’t had shoulder tension in years!
Kate: Saje Sweet Dreams Intensive Moisturizer. I swear this is the secret to eternally youthful skin!
Carly: Saje Rose Hydrating Euphoric Mist. I currently have four on the go: two at home and two at my desk. A spritz instantly makes me feel calm and happy!
Courtney: Saje Balancing Elixir. It has kept my skin clear of any travel-related breakouts ever since I started using it, and I travel a lot.
If you had a yacht, what would be the name of it?
Courtney: She Gone.
What was the best piece of advice you received when you were first starting your career?
Kelly: Choose a career and industry that you’re passionate about, and don’t go for money. The money will eventually come when you love what you’re doing, and you’ll end up that much happier!
Carly: The advice I received is summed up in Deepak Chopra’s Law of Detachment. Uncertainty, change and setbacks are an inevitable part of anyone’s career and by staying open to possibility, you’ll have a much more exciting, creative and fulfilling journey, and life!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received now that you’re in your career?
Courtney: Your lowest points are your most valuable learning moments.
Kelly: Take ownership for your own growth, no one will do that for you. Put your hand up!
Kate: When Carly first joined our team, she kept saying “go slow to go fast”, which means master the fundamentals first so you can go fast in the future.
Red, White or Rose?
Kelly: Rose all day!
Kate: There’s a time and place for all of the above!
Courtney: I’m with Kate!
Carly: All of the above? I’m eight months pregnant right now, so all three sound dreamy!
When I dance I look like…
Kelly: A lanky giraffe, but one that dances like no one’s watching. There’s a lot of limbs moving!
Carly: In my mind, Britney Spears. To everyone else, Elaine from Seinfeld.
Who do you channel when you’re about to do something that scares you?
Kelly: Lacey Philips. She’s an incredible Manifestation Coach who has changed my life and takes on challenges like a BOSS. She says every person is a teacher, and every event is a lesson!
What’s your favorite destination to visit?
Kate: I’m a big fan of Beijing and Shanghai, and can’t recommend those two places enough to people! But if I want a relaxing vacation, nothing beats an all-inclusive in Mexico. Margaritas and tacos: need I say more?
What’s your favourite meal to eat?
Courtney: My guilty pleasure… mac & cheese. Annie’s to be specific!
Kelly: I’m obsessed with Middle Eastern food at the moment. Aleph Eatery and Jam Jar are the yummiest in town, and both are vegan friendly!
Kate: It’s a strong tie between my mom’s homemade gnocchi and Flying Pig’s brussels sprouts.
Carly: Breakfast, any time of the day.
What’s the most fulfilling part of your career?
Courtney: When someone on my team has an ‘aha’ moment. You can see the little light bulb going off and you know they’ve just taken their career to the next level.
Kelly: Continuing to push the envelope with how we work with influencers. I love watching what seems like a blue-sky idea come to life!
Kate: Watching my team make genuine and authentic connections with people and businesses. There’s a certain tipping point where a relationship grows from an acquaintance to a friendship, and I love seeing that happen.
Carly: I lead ten smart, ambitious and full-of-heart women and being a part of their career journey, their growth, their successes and their learnings brings me so much joy.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Kelly: Mexican candy! I grew up in Belize, and as a child it was my vice.
Kate: Real Housewives of everywhere.
Carly: I’m with Kate. My love for the Real Housewives (all franchises; but especially OC, NYC, NJ & Cheshire…yes, I go International) runs deep.
What quality are you working on yourself right now?
Kelly: Stop people-pleasing and trust my gut.
Kate: Self-care is a big one for me. Kelly is a shining example of that, and I look up to her for it. This is something I think everyone can work on.
Coffee meeting or drinks meeting?
Kelly: Coffee meeting for getting through a stacked to-do list, but brainstorms are best with drinks flowing!
Kate: Court always drags me to Tim Horton’s for a tea meeting, but I prefer a Starbucks Americano.
If you’re going out for a cocktail you’d order…
Courtney: French 75, please.
Kelly: Moscow Mule or Rose.
Kate: Dirty gin martini, extra olives.
If you had unlimited budget for 2 hours of shopping where would you go?
Courtney: Expedia.com.
Kate: I’m with Courtney on this one, and I’d be sitting next to her on the plane with a cocktail in hand.
What’s your favourite movie?
Courtney: Pride & Prejudice
Kelly: Call Me by Your Name. It’s a beautiful love story. I cried twice and their outfits through the entire movie are serious #goals.
Kate: Death Becomes Her. It’s such a terrible movie, but with such talented actors!
