What does babes supporting babes mean to you?
To me, babes supporting babes means always choosing collaboration over competition, choosing to support and uplift one another and encouraging each other to be the best babes we can be.
If you could choose your nickname, what would it be?
I have so many nicknames, I don’t know if I could choose just one! Leonard, Lenny, Leroy, Lance, Big Pink, PGL, just to name a few.
What’s your spirit animal?
My spirit animal is a deer! I’ve always loved them and my sisters used to constantly tell me I looked like a deer in headlights growing up, so I guess it stuck.
What’s your proudest babe moment or achievement?
My proudest babe moment is the first time I walked into the Nordstrom Headquarters in Seattle to sell Brunette the Label with Miriam. After working as a visual merchandiser for Nordstrom — which involved overnight shifts and wearing a tool belt up a 15-foot ladder (not my specialty!) — to actually meeting the buyers behind the gorgeous apparel they sell, it was a really huge moment for me.
What’s the most unexpected thing you have in your purse or wallet?
It’s not that unexpected but I always have lip gloss. I rotate between lots of different brands, but I’m currently obsessed with Buxom’s new holographic gloss in Camila.
Tell us about a time where you were faced with a situation that you could have been unkind, but chose to be a babe instead?
I feel like there are so many moments in life and work where the easy decision is to act on your emotions without thinking, which can come across as unkind. I have been working on thinking a lot more before I speak and choosing to be a babe, even if it’s not always the automatic choice, it’s the right one.
What product would you seriously stockpile if you found out they weren’t selling anymore?
I’m a product junkie! It would be the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and Lapcos Milk Face Masks.
If you had a yacht, what would be the name of it?
A Whole New World (an ode to my cat – Princess Jasmine) 😉
What was the best piece of advice you received when you were first starting your career?
When I was first starting out in the fashion industry, it took a long time to find a solid paying job, and after a while, it was hard to stay constantly motivated on the job hunt. My dad always taught me to look at the bigger picture, and that no matter how small the task that you’re doing seems, you’re learning and getting more experience.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received now that you’re in your career?
Everything will get done. I’m an anxious person by nature and when I have a lot going on at work, I can stress myself out easily. Reminding myself that everything will get done if I make sure to prioritize and make lists of the tasks at hand, helps me work efficiently.
Red, white, or rose?
Anything and everything.
When I dance I look like….
A giraffe in heels. (I’m all limbs.)
Tell us about a Babe who has supported you?
My sisters. They are two of the most supportive people in my life. I am so thankful that no matter what happens they’re just a phone call away.
Who do you channel when you’re about to do something that scares you?
My mom. She is my best friend and rock.
What’s your favourite destination to visit?
My family’s cabin on B.C.’s sunshine coast, or anywhere I can lay on the beach with a giant pina colada in hand.
What’s your favorite meal to eat?
Pasta! Any kind, anytime.
What’s the most fulfilling part of your career?
I love being able to work with a team of men and women that inspire and teach me daily. I also love that every day is different and I get to work in such a creative, fun environment.
Where’s your favourite place to draw inspiration from?
Traveling, there are so many places I want to visit but everywhere I go I feel so inspired. I also love going for a walk on the seawall and clearing my mind to draw inspiration.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Bubble baths! Taking a bath in the evening with a glass of wine, music, and a good book is my favourite way to unwind.
What quality are you working on yourself right now?
Self-love.
What’s the biggest hurdle you’ve had to overcome in business?
Confidence.
Coffee meeting or drinks meeting?
Drinks! I don’t drink coffee and meetings over drinks are always a fun way to break the ice.
If you’re going out for a cocktail you’d order…
Jalapeno margarita or an aperol spritz!
If you had an unlimited budget for 2 hours of shopping where would you go?
What’s your favorite movie?
Moulin Rouge!
