We are very excited to introduce Meredith Lacosse, full-time makeup artist, and the ultimate creative babe. Meredith’s parents are both artists and ran an art gallery in her early childhood. Growing up surrounded by creativity, this babe was destined for the art world. Meredith always loved painting but never considered working in beauty until she stumbled into the role while she was in University. Once Meredith started working as a makeup artist, she realized she could never imagine doing anything else. Meredith has grown into a successful artist, working with a variety of clients and publications, including Brunette the Label. Now, Meredith paints on occasion, but mostly draws upon her artistic background as inspiration for creating makeup looks!
What does babes supporting babes mean to you?
To me, it’s a community. It’s a kindness, a support system, a celebration and a trust between women.
If you could choose your nickname, what would it be?
A lot of my friends called me MereBear, I’d stick with that one. Way better for the people that love you to pick a nickname.
What’s your spirit animal?
I’d love to say Shark but it’s closer to sloth. I’m a huge fan of napping and snacking.
What’s your proudest babe moment or achievement?
The day I quit my job to pursue makeup full-time.
What’s the most unexpected thing you have in your purse or wallet?
You’d be alarmed at how many different lip balms and lipsticks are floating around at the bottom of my bag.
Tell us about a time where you were faced with a situation that you could have been unkind, but chose to be a babe instead?
I find in most situations where tensions may be running high or a situation isn’t being handled properly I always try to be kind and patient. You can never fully know what’s going on in someone else’s life so I give the benefit of the doubt and hope people will do the same for me.
What product would you seriously stockpile if you found out they weren’t selling anymore?
Weleda Skin Food. It’s the most perfect cream. I use it for everything and on everyone.
If you had a yacht, what would be the name of it?
“Otis” after my favourite musician Otis Redding.
What was the best piece of advice you received when you were first starting your career?
To say yes to everything and be nice to everyone.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received now that you’re in your career?
Take time to enjoy the successes, small and big.
Red, white, or rose?
Red always, champagne for the big moments.
When I dance I look like….
A total goof usually.
Tell us about a Babe who has supported you?
I feel extremely lucky. I’m surrounded by a network of incredible and supportive women. My mom is the biggest babe of all. She’s easily the most supportive, caring babe of them all.
Who do you channel when you’re about to do something that scares you?
Depends on the day or the mood. I usually think about someone that inspires me or has achieved something I admire.
What’s your favourite destination to visit?
I’m having a major love affair with London at the moment.
What’s your favorite meal to eat?
Oysters on the half shell with a chilled bottle of prosecco.
What’s the most fulfilling part of your career?
Making women (and men) feel confident and beautiful.
Where’s your favourite place to draw inspiration from?
Art galleries and museums are my favourite place to draw inspiration. Studying brush strokes and the way colours are put together by different artists is so inspiring. I could stand in front of a Cy Twombly painting forever.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Naps, lingerie, listening to 50 Cent while I’m prepping for shoots.
What quality are you working on yourself right now?
To stop comparing myself to others and enjoy the ride.
What’s the biggest hurdle you’ve had to overcome in business?
The fear of the unknown that comes with the instability of freelance life.
Coffee meeting or drinks meeting?
Unless it’s an early morning meeting I always suggest drinks.
If you’re going out for a cocktail you’d order…
Anything bourbon or mezcal.
If you had an unlimited budget for 2 hours of shopping where would you go?
I’d run right to Chloe.
What’s your favourite movie?
Roman Holiday. The haircut scene in the salon is everything.
